Limerence is an intense, sometimes obsessive state whereby a person becomes obsessively preoccupied with another individual, often accompanied by an overwhelming desire for reciprocation.
Listen to the podcast below, or via your usual podcast provider.

Limerance involves heightened thoughts, some idealisation of the person, and is linked to anxious ambivalent attachment styles, in my opinion.
People in limerence may feel a strong need for signs of affection which can lead to distorted perceptions of reality; there’s strong links with both addiction and neurodivergence. While limerence often involves romantic attraction, it differs from love.
In the podcast, I also explore some ways in which Hypno-CBT could be used to help someone in limerence, eg cognitive reframing and restructuring, distress tolerance, rehearsal of coping skills, mindfulness etc.
